Eat, pray, love, eat, eat.

Hi all,

The next part of our journey was a lovely ten days in Italy, where we drove through scenic Tuscany staying in two different areas then on to Rome.

Leaving France we stayed a night just outside of the Cinque Terre villages, so that we could check a few of them out the next day.  Although the weather was average the villages were very nice, and we had the most delicious pesto pizza ever!  We then drove to the Chianti region of Tuscany to use as a base for various day trips to the surrounding villages.  We visited all the main ones, Siena, Volterra, San Gimingnano, Florence, and ate some delicious pasta, pizza and gelato at all of them.  After that we drove further south in Tuscany to a farm-stay owned by chefs who cooked our dinners using their own and local produce which was tasty, and was set in beautiful gardens.

We dropped our car off at Rome airport then ventured into the city (quite an experience after over a month of small towns!), and to our nice little B&B near the Vatican.  We spent that afternoon and the next day wandering around the city looking at the essential sights, took a tour of the underground section of the Colosseum and meandered through what's left of the ruins, all of which was very tiring.  We then had a long day trip to Mt Vesuvius & Pompeii which was pretty incredible, we walked up to the rim of the volcano, then had a tour of the preserved city which was very interesting.

Now enjoying the lazy life in the Greek Islands!

The Prince of Monte Carlo

~"This is a great spot to enjoy some time off from being an amazing international spy"~

~"Hmmm, that creep on the motorcycle just took a roll of microfilm from a Russian man
on a yacht. Those pesky Russians are always up to something, I'd better follow him."~

~"My God!! He's one of those shape-shifting motorcyclists I read about in Gentleman
                                              Spy Quarterly, I mustn't lose him!"~

~"Geepers he's changed again!! And just as we are going over the starting grid of the
Grand Prix, I hope I don't inadvertently join the race!"~

~"Damn which way did he go?!"~

~"Ahhhh!!!! I've joined the race, but going the wrong way!!!"~

~"Right almost at the end of the tunnel now!"~

~"Just need to make it through this hairpin turn and up the hill."~

~"Pfft, typical Italian Ferrari drivers going the wrong way during a race... oh wait it's me."~

~"We must be near the Casino de Monte Carlo now."~

~"Ah ha, my old nemesis Giancarlo Babadaboochi is here, I should have known he would
have something to do with this."~

~"I'll just park my Aston out the front of the Casino and go in for a little chat..."~

                                                        The End..... for now.
