Goodbye America

Hi all,

It is with much regret that we are now saying goodbye to America after almost 2 months here. We've crossed the continent coast to coast, gone through 23 states (keep forgetting about Hawaii!) and met some pretty amazing people and places along the way.

Our last week in California has been great, we left LA and drove north to Yosemite National Park to see the huge rock walls, waterfalls and wildlife (no bears unfortunately), stayed overnight then headed into San Francisco. It easily became one of our favourite cities due to the excellent food, good shopping, reasonably good weather and the fact that Full House was set here. We did all the touristy things here, escaped from Alcatraz, biked the Golden Gate Bridge, walked down the crooked Lombard St, rode a cable car, wandered Chinatown and went to Alamo Square. We also went to another baseball game in Oakland which was excellent, and ate plenty of delicious Japanese and Chinese food.

Leaving San Fran we picked up a sweet gunmetal grey Ford Mustang convertible to cruise down the coast in, stopping in Monterey, along the Big Sur coast, then in San Simeon for the night to see the huge Hearst Castle at sunset. We then continued our drive down stopping in charming Santa Barbara for the night which was a very nice, then back to LA through Malibu before our flight in a few hours now.

It has been an incredible first leg of our round the world trip and we are now eagerly awaiting our next bit (London and Morocco), and we'd like to say thanks to everyone who has helped make this trip possible for us. Goodbye America, and hello Europe.
